About CAVA

 

CAVA is a non-profit, national organization formed by industry professionals who saw the need for a Canadian version of the U.S.-based National Association of Voice Actors (NAVA) - given that we have different laws and needs in Canada. CAVA was established to mimic NAVA’s initiatives, with a focus on advocacy. Our goals include seeking legislative change with the government regarding artificial intelligence (AI), with the ultimate goal of achieving ethical and fair usage of our voices and likeness. CAVA also strives to educate its members on various topics that may affect their voiceover businesses. Some examples include AI, VO Scams, how to behave during a live directed session and how to read a contract. We are also here to help our Canadian VO community thrive. We exist because there is a need.

Who We Are

 

The CAVA Executive Board is made up of a group of individuals who have expertise in many different areas of voiceover including agents, talent and casting directors. CAVA also consists of an Advisory Board with professional expertise, not only in voiceover, but also in other disciplines such as accounting, administration, entertainment law, mediation, sound engineering, translation, web and graphic design, government relations, public relations, communications and media relations. We are all volunteers.

What We Do

 

CAVA is here for the industry as a whole, but with a Canadian focus.  We aim to provide relevant and helpful content on Canadian VO news and issues.

We work with businesses and industry partners to provide discounts, benefits and connections for our paid members.
CAVA offers educational webinars from vetted Canadian VO coaches, Canadian casting directors, Canadian demo producers/sound engineers, Canadian production houses and so much more.
We also facilitate social interaction between members through social media and online events.
We are here to provide a service to voice actors, union and non-union.

What We Don’t Do

 

  • We are not a business.

  • We are not here to make a profit.
    All funds collected through membership, fundraising and/or donations go back towards CAVA initiatives to benefit its members.

  • We are not a talent roster and do not represent individuals.

  • We are not a casting agency.

  • We are not voice buyers nor are we connected to voice buyers.

  • We are not a voiceover casting site or Pay to Play.

  • We’re not a training platform.

  • We do not create job opportunities.

  • We do not provide work, nor do not hire voice actors.
